Time to make over your liver!

It’s April, friends, and we have work to do!

So here’s the deal. If you want to make over that muffintop of yours in time for bikini weather, we need to start with making over your liver.

Yep, thats right. Mid-section fat is often created to store excess toxins that that are overwhelming the liver. I have worked in the weight loss and fat burning arena for 10 years, and one thing I can tell you for sure is if you want to lose weight and keep it off you have to have a well functioning liver.

April is the perfect time to love your liver. It is a time when your body is naturally detoxifying in an effort to mobilize fat stores for extra caloric needs during longer day light hours. Physical demands on the body typically increase with increased sunlight, and the body starts cleaning house in preparation for duty. The end result will be one happy metabolism ready to take on fat burning.

So here is where you need to listen up big time.

There are a million detox and cleansing programs out there. I have tried many of them and researched most. Here is what I know about liver cleanses:

1) You gotta remove all toxic foods and beverages from your diet for several weeks.

2) You gotta get loads of the right kinds of nutrients that support phase II of the liver pathways for safe clearing of the toxins released during the cleanse. This includes sulfur containing amino acids and other nutrients that will upregulate the livers detoxifying ability.  Note: this is why juice fasting isn’t effective when doing a liver cleanse!

3) You gotta give it enough time for the body to shift into action and complete the job. You are looking at 3-4 weeks to get the job done. It took you how long to get this toxic? So expecting your body to clear all toxins in 5 days in not realistic for most people.

4) You need to be good to your self during this time. The body is so friggin smart, it will respond by cleansing all toxic baggage, including emotions.

5) You need to eat! Liquid fasting only stresses the body out and makes you want to store more fat. Consuming a diet of clean, healthy foods, in addition to liver cleansing shakes is the way to go.

6) Liver cleansing should be repeated spring and fall for optimum health, and can also be used as maintenance if needed.

Makeover Monday…Diet Coke!

Hello everyone!

It’s Makeover Monday, and this week I am making over …..


Yep, we’re going after that nasty can of toxic chemicals once and for all because YOU are WAY TOO SMART to allow the biggest health scam in America to ruin your health, right?!

Remember my motto…

“The most important thing you can do for your family is to be healthy….”

So trust me when I say there ain’t nothin good coming from you sucking down a Diet Coke, or any other diet soda for that matter….. Right? I know you know this to be true, because you are a smart and intuitive person, so why, then, do you (and millions of others) do it?

Is it because you’re addicted?


It would be hard to drink it on a regular basis and not get addicted, just sayin…

Here’s the facts about Diet Soda addiction:

Diet Coke has caffeine, which we all know is addictive in itself. It also has other chemical sweeteners that have been in the spot light as of late for their neuro toxic and addictive effects on humans. Aspartame, being the most common…

Trust me when I tell you ASPARTAME has NO BUSINESS being inside your body. It is neuro toxic, and has been linked to seizures, migraines, and other neurological conditions. It has also been linked to weight gain…go figure, literally.

Nor does Neotame, which is made by combining Aspartame with 3-dimethylbutyraldehyd, a highly flammable irritant that carries risk statements warning that it’s irritating to skin, eyes, and respiratory system….Nice.

Hmmmm, think maybe that’s why Diet Coke has been said to actually be able to clean your toilet?

There are also many other chemicals in Diet Coke for you to be aware of…and thousands of studies siting the dangers of these chemicals. If you drink Diet Coke, you MUST spend some time reviewing the studies on these chemicals, including the carmel coloring additive, which Diet Coke manufactures have just agreed to change because of the dangers on human health. I bet you a Diet Coke they replace it with something toxic….#donttrustemanounce

OK, I could go on here loading you up with big words and facts about the addictive and harmful effects of Diet Coke on your health, or I can just make a PLEA to you to USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. To love yourself and your family enough to do what is right for your health. You are stronger than that chemical crap, and don’t need it to keep you going. Every time you open a can and suck it down you are poisoning your body and choosing addiction over your health.

Say it with me…

“The best thing you can do for your family is to be healthy!”

Now, for the MAKEOVER part….

WHAT is a healthy alternative to Diet Coke that is satisfying? Well, if you are addicted to Diet Coke, probably nothing will be satisfying in the beginning. If you actually like the taste of diet coke, your tastes buds are off. Way off.  The taste buds of someone who does not consume fake chemicals would find diet coke repulsive and not recognizable as something to be consumed.  So, you are going to have to suck it up (literally) and drink healthier alternatives until your taste buds adjust to more natural flavors. Sorry. As you can see, I don’t “sugar coat” things, not even my words… :)

BUT, if you are READY to MAKEOVER your Diet Coke addiction, here is what I suggest you do:

1. Learn to read labels and to understand the various names of chemical sweetener additives. Basically, if you can’t pronounce it, don’t consume it. Natural cane sugar, stevia, honey, agave, are about the only natural sweeteners I recommend, and these should be consumed in moderation.

2. Don’t consume ANY other sweeteners besides the ones listed above…. I know I will still get questions about splenda and a few others and the answer is no! If it was manufactured in a lab, it’s a no. Unfortunately, many of the artificial sweeteners are marketed as healthy and natural, which is confusing to the consumer, so you have to be your own detective, and learn the truth about chemicals in your diet. If not for you, do it for your kids, so we can break the cycle of destructive eating in this country.

3. Consume these instead: clean filtered water, spring water from a clean source (you can add fresh fruit or cucumbers to the water for flavor), organic herbal or green iced teas with little or no sweetener, and only the sweeteners above (no more than 10g per serving), lemonade (organic and natural), and if you are on the go and need to buy bottled drinks, buy HINT, which tastes delicious and has no sugar, or raw, organic, unsweetened coconut water. I like Natures Harvest the best. But remember, anything other than water should be consumed as a treat, in moderation.  Water should be 80% of your liquid consumption. And, ok, if you really want a cola once in a blue moon, go for the old fashioned kind. The ones made with natural ingredients and no fake chemicals….I, too, love a good ole fashioned root beer every once in a while. :)

Hmmmmm, I didn’t give you a whole lot of choices, did I? So not the American way, sorry.  I didn’t suggest fruit juice, nor did I suggest Crystal Light or any of those other ridiculous fake chemical cocktails in a can. But I do promise you that as you continue to MAKEOVER your diet, your taste buds will shift to not wanting sweet, toxic tastes. So stick with me and I will be making over more products each week to help you along your diet makeover journey, which will eventually lead to making over your muffintop!
